Waffles with caramelised apples

I woke up early this morning to make waffles for my little five year old, the sun gently streaming into the kitchen.


The waffles 
1- Mix two cups of sifted flour, four teaspoons of baking powder, a pinch of salt, two tablespoons of brown sugar (or one tablespoon of honey), a pinch of salt, two eggs, a drop of vanilla extract and two cups of milk.
2- When well mixed, add half a stick of butter (four tablespoons) melted and cooled slightly.
3- Let it stand for 15 minutes and bake the waffles in a waffle maker as per instructions.


The caramelised apples
1- Peel and slice the apples. Place them in a bowl with a few drops of lemon and one tablespoon of brown sugar per apple. Mix well.
2- In a sauce pan, place about 10 gr of butter per apple and let it melt. Add the apples and mix well. Let it simmer on medium to low fire for about 15 minutes, uncovered. Mix from time to time.
3- Serve immediately on top of waffles or pancakes.
4- You can also add a pinch of cinnamon with the apples or some raisins, or both.
