Guacamole is the simplest thing in the word to prepare, so I sometimes smile when friends, who live abroad, ask me if I have any special recipes. Just a few days in Mexico, and they would have realized that it is rather simple. It is served at almost every meal, and I do so in my own home as it is full of vitamins.


All you need is a ripe avocado and some lime juice (or lemon juice if lime is not available). Mash the avocado, mix with the juice (it prevents it from turning darker as well as adding some taste) and sprinkle with salt if you want. That’s it!

If you want to be a bit more imaginative and have some of these items on hand you can add one or some or all of them:

– chopped cilantro – I almost always do
– chili peppers – Jalapeño preferably, but also Chipotle or any other of your choice
– diced tomatoes – if you want more color
– diced onions – it gives it a stronger taste.
