Pain perdu?

Pain perdu – or “lost bread” – that is how we call French Toast in French. This easy recipe will certainly make it find its way home!


For about 10 toasts. Here I used whole wheat toast, you can use other thicker bread like brioche or challah bread cut in slices. 

1- In a bowl, mix thoroughly three whole eggs and half a cup of heavy cream.
2- Dip each piece of sliced bread in the mix and cook on low fire in a pan with a little bit of butter. Try not to crowd the pan and turn each toast only once. It takes about five minutes for the first side, and three minutes for the next. Add a little bit of butter when you turn the toast over.
3- Serve with maple syrup or honey, and fruits. Here with guayava and mango.
