In the kitchen

Under a short cold spell here in San Miguel de Allende with temperatures dropping below freezing at night, so I brought in the most fragile plants.

Mint, peppermint, lavender, thyme, rosemary and ginger, accompany white geraniums and succulents, happily offering their fragrance in the kitchen.

Below, the ginger plant. Just plant fresh ginger root in good soil. Keep the soil humid but not drenched. It grows really fast and really well indoors if your house is warm. Mine has been giving new branches every two months or so for the past year. I cut them at the base when they reach about 1.5 meters.
